The rules
We read the Food Code and post every change, with the source.
We check FDA's Food Code pages and its retail food updates. Most days nothing changes. When something does, we post it on our updates page and update Patrono's checklists.
See every rule updateThe 2026 Food Code.
FDA released it on September 17, 2026. New for restaurants: a written employee illness policy, double gloving in some cases and a new cooling method.
Your health department decides.
The Food Code applies where your state or county adopts it, each on its own schedule. Ask your health department which edition it enforces.
What the inspector checks.
FDA's model inspection report lists 29 risk factor items and 27 good retail practices. Patrono keeps the temperature, receiving and cleaning records behind several of them.
Hygiene, every shift.
Handwashing for at least 20 seconds, no bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat food and a written employee illness policy are Food Code rules your team follows. Patrono keeps your opening, closing and cleaning checklists on the phone, and the illness policy template comes by email.

Time back
About 90 hours a year back, worth about $2,500.
On the schedule, staff see their own shift on the phone, swaps are approved in the app instead of over text, and weekly hours add up for you. For a team of 18, that is about 50 hours a year.
On temperature logs, staff enter the reading and the app records the time and their name. You review the week on screen, and there is nothing to file at month end. That is about 40 hours a year.

Time back in a year
- Schedules and swapsabout 50 hours

Worth about $2,500 a year
Patrono billed annually: $1,428 a year
Estimate for one location with 18 staff and 3 cold units, against paper logs and a group chat, at US median pay (BLS, May 2025).
How we estimate
Schedule estimate for a team of 18: 3 shift swaps a week approved in 1 minute instead of 10 by text, 6 “when am I on” questions a week answered by the app, and weekly hours added up for you. A team of 18 is close to the US average of 18.4 employees per restaurant (US Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023).
Temperature log estimate: 3 fridges or freezers read at opening, midday and closing for 30 days (270 entries), 30 seconds saved per entry because the app records the time and the name, a 10-minute shorter weekly review, and no month-end filing.
Readings valued at the median pay of US cooks, $17.62 an hour, schedule work, review and filing at the median pay of food service managers, $33.36 an hour (US Bureau of Labor Statistics, May 2025).

Margin
On $1 million in sales, every point of labor or food cost is $10,000 a year.
The median full-service restaurant keeps 2.8 cents of every dollar before taxes, and labor takes 36.5% of sales. Patrono puts planned hours on the schedule and food cost on every dish, so you see both every week.

FAQ
Questions about Patrono.
Can we use the devices we already have?
Yes. Patrono runs in the browser on any computer and in the app on phones and tablets, so there is no new hardware to buy.
Do we need a POS?
No. Patrono runs next to the POS you have, or without one. It does not ring up sales, issue receipts or take payments, so nothing changes at your counter.
How do we get started?
Tell us about your restaurant. We email you your login. Install the app and start with 14 days: $0 today, and if you do not cancel before day 15, $149 a month or $119 a month billed annually. Short video guides walk you through setup.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Your POS and your kitchen keep working as they do today. Patrono syncs once the connection is back, with no loss of the data entered in between.
Is Patrono built for the 2026 Food Code?
Yes. The 2026 Food Code came out on September 17, 2026, and Patrono is built for it: temperature logs, checklists and staff certificates, with a time and a name on every record. Ask your health department which edition of the Food Code it enforces. Pennsylvania and Mississippi take each new Food Code automatically. Every other state adopts an edition on its own schedule.
How do you keep up with the Food Code?
Who do we contact when we need help?
Email info@getpatrono.com. A person on our team answers every email.
Does Patrono use US formats?
Yes. Temperatures in °F, prices in USD, dates written as October 26, 2026, and printouts on Letter-size paper.
How does Patrono calculate food cost?
From your recipes, not from estimates. The amount of each ingredient and what you pay for it give the cost per plate. When you enter a new purchase price, the cost and margin of every dish that uses that ingredient update at once.
Does Patrono keep the records my inspector asks for?
Yes. Fridge, freezer and food temperatures are entered on the phone, with the person's name and the time on every record. A reading out of range cannot be saved without a corrective action, and a saved record cannot be changed. Opening, closing and cleaning checklists and staff certificates live in the same app.
How much does Patrono cost?
$149 per location per month, or $119 a month billed annually ($1,428 a year), with every module. For 3 to 5 locations it is $129 per location per month, or $99 billed annually, with the group overview. For 6 or more locations, email us at info@getpatrono.com. Prices in USD, plus applicable sales tax, and no setup fee.
Do I have to sign a yearly contract?
No. The monthly plan has no minimum term, and you can cancel anytime in the app. The annual plan is there if you want a lower price per month.
Who can see our data?
Only the people you add, with the role you give them. Staff do not see food cost, for example. Our team looks at your data only with your permission, for a specific case.
How is our data protected?
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We run daily backups kept for 30 days and weekly snapshots kept for 12 months.
Can I export all my data if we leave?
Yes. On request you get your data in a machine-readable format: recipes, schedules, food safety records and checklists. There is no fee to leave.
Does Patrono work for several locations?
Yes. All your locations sit under one account, and recipes and checklists can stay the same at every one. For 3 to 5 locations the price is $129 per location per month, or $99 billed annually, with the group overview. For 6 or more, email us at info@getpatrono.com.
Who is behind Patrono?
Patrono is a product of Cautus Sistemi d.o.o., a software company in Zagreb, Croatia. We build Patrono in Croatia, with restaurant owners. The team comes from hospitality, delivery platforms and restaurant franchise management.
