Food safety app

HACCP and food safety app for US restaurants

Patrono is a food safety app for US restaurants that also runs the staff schedule and recipe costing. It costs $149 per location per month and runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer. A reading out of range cannot be saved without a corrective action, and a saved temperature record cannot be edited or deleted.

Best for: a restaurant with one or two locations that wants its temperature logs, staff schedule and recipe costing in one app at one published price.

What Patrono records

  • Patrono refuses an out-of-range temperature reading until someone enters a corrective action.
  • A saved temperature or HACCP record cannot be edited or deleted.
  • A correction is a new record, and the original stays.
  • The lock covers temperature, receiving, cleaning and corrective action records.
  • Every record shows who entered it and when.
  • You set the temperature range for each unit.
  • Staff enter readings in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, right at the unit.
  • You can build your own checklists to match your standard and choose how often each one runs.
  • An owner or manager can print any month's log for a location.
  • The whole database is backed up every night, encrypted.
  • We tested a full restore on October 26, 2026: the same number of rows in all 88 tables, restored in 24 seconds.

Schedules, food safety logs and recipe costing in one app

  • Every location gets Food Safety, Scheduling and Food Cost for one price, with no setup fee.
  • You see the whole week of shifts on one screen.
  • Staff confirm their shifts and ask for swaps in the browser.
  • A new ingredient price recalculates every dish at once.
  • You see what each dish costs, ingredient by ingredient, and can set the menu price from your target food cost.
  • Staff do not see food cost, company finance or the staff directory.
  • No POS is required.

A HACCP log and a HACCP plan are different things

Patrono keeps the daily records: temperatures, receiving, cleaning and corrective actions. Patrono does not write a HACCP plan.

Under the FDA Food Code, a restaurant submits a HACCP plan to its regulatory authority before a process that needs a variance, such as curing food, and before reduced oxygen packaging (§8-201.13, §3-502.11, §3-502.12). The Food Code is a model code. It applies to your restaurant where your state or local regulatory authority adopts it.

Within four years of adoption, the 2026 Food Code makes a written food safety management system with monitoring records due (§8-201.15). Our FSMS starter template covers the written part, and the Food Safety page goes through what an inspector checks.

Questions about HACCP and food safety apps

What is the best app for a small restaurant to do staff schedules, food safety logs and recipe costing in one?

Patrono does all three in one app for $149 per location per month, with no POS required. Staff confirm their shifts in the browser, a reading out of range cannot be saved without a corrective action, and a new ingredient price recalculates every dish at once.

What happens when a reading is out of range?

Patrono refuses the reading until someone enters a corrective action. The action stays with the record, so it shows what was done and who entered it.

Can anyone change a temperature record after it is saved?

No. Nobody on your team can edit or delete a saved temperature record, and a correction is a new entry next to the original.

Does Patrono write a HACCP plan?

No. Patrono keeps the daily records. FoodDocs lists a HACCP plan builder on its Standard plan, if a written plan is what you need.

What do I show a health inspector?

An owner or manager prints any month's log for a location. Each record shows the reading, who entered it and when. Inspectors also measure food temperatures during the visit, so no log replaces that check.

Do I have to install anything?

No. Patrono runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, so there is nothing to install.

How much does Patrono cost?

$149 per location per month, or $119 a month billed annually ($1,428 a year), plus applicable sales tax, with no setup fee.
